Sugar Land Surgical Hospital is fully accredited
by the Joint Commission on Accreditation
of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
JCAHO evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs
in the United States. An independent, not-for-profit organization, JCAHO is the nation’s
pre-eminent standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Since 1951 JCAHO has
maintained standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of the care health care organizations provide. The JCAHO’s comprehensive accreditation process evaluates an
organization’s compliance with these standards and other requirements.
JCAHO accreditation is recognized internationally as a symbol of quality and reflects an
organization’s commitment to meeting performance standards. To earn and maintain the JCAHO’s Gold Seal of Approval, an organization undergoes an unannounced, on-site survey by a JCAHO survey team at least every three years.
The public may contact the Joint Commission’s Office of Quality Monitoring to report any concerns or register complaints about a Joint Commission-accredited health care organization by either calling 1-800-994-6610 or emailing complaint@jcaho.org.
