Sugar Land Surgical Hospital uses state of the art ultrasound equipment. Our professional staff provides a courteous bed-side manner and hospital gowns before every procedure.
During the procedure, the sonographer applies a lubricant gel to the area that will be examine. Using a computer, monitor and transducer, the sonographer presses the transducer to your skin and sweeps it back and forth over the area of interest.
If scanning is performed over an area of tenderness, you may feel pressure or minor discomfort from the procedure.
Internal ultrasound exams may produce minimal discomfort.
If a Doppler ultrasound study is performed, you may actually hear pulse-like sounds that change in pitch as the blood flow is monitored and measured.
Once the ultrasound procedure is complete, the gel is wiped off.
After an ultrasound exam, you should be able to resume your normal activities. Your physician will instruct you if your activity level is restricted following the exam. |
